For other insurances, we are considered an "out of network" provider. Some insurance plans have out of network medical nutrition therapy benefits, which allow partial or complete reimbursement of medical nutrition therapy.

This means that you are responsible for the full price of the consultation at the time of service and that we will be happy to provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance carrier for possible reimbursement. Please be advised that this is not a guarantee your claim with be reimbursed. InControl Nutrition, LLC is not responsible if insurance does not reimburse the visit. Always check with your insurance carrier what is covered, if you plan on seeking reimbursed by them. Use this script when calling insurances.

Do I need a referral?

Some insurances plans require a referral for reimbursement (we will check for you). If you are not using insurance for payment of services, a referral is not required but it would be helpful to know why the medical provider referred you. If you plan seeking reimbursement as an out of network benefit, your insurance may require you to have a referral prior to your first nutrition appointment. Usually on the referral, a diagnosis code is indicated, which can help with reimbursement claims.

How many visits do I need?

Every individual is different, with different needs. Some people need only one nutrition session for a quick consultation, others require more extensive visits to help them achieve their goals. Generally, in order to see meaningful improvement, it is recommended to see a dietitian at least on a monthly basis for at least 3 months.  People with diabetes and those that require insulin titration may need more frequents visits initially and then taper off as they feel comfortable managing their diabetes
